The Nagpur police's crime branch has taken action against thieves and burglars, successfully resolving nine cases in two operations, providing relief to the citizens. In one operation, two burglars were captured and seven cases were solved. The city police have been putting in increased efforts to address the rising concerns of vehicle thefts and burglaries among the public. In a recent incident, valuables worth Rs6.54 lakh were stolen from Mukesh Nipani's residence in Vaishali Nagar. This led to a case being registered by the Pachpaoli police, prompting parallel investigations by the crime branch. With the help of CCTV footage, the police identified the perpetrators, leading to the apprehension of Ramakant alias Rambhau Shahu (27) and Narendra alias Bali Bokde (23). The accused confessed to being involved in multiple burglaries and vehicle thefts and have been found in possession of stolen goods and vehicles valued at Rs9.53 lakh. Additionally, it was discovered that both individuals are substance abusers resorting to criminal activities to fund their addictions. Ramakant is also wanted in connection with two burglary cases at Kalamna police station. In a separate incident, three culprits were arrested by crime branch unit 5 and two vehicle theft cases were resolved. These arrests were made following the investigation of a bike theft at Jaripatka police station, leading to the apprehension of Akash Nagrale (27), Yogesh Chavhan (25), and Devendra Thakre (24) with the help of CCTV footage and intelligence on the ground.Two stolen vehicles have been recovered along with the bike used in the crime, amounting to a total value of Rs1.20 lakh. It has been reported that vehicle thefts mainly occur in busy or market areas of the city, while burglaries are more common in the outskirts, particularly falling under the jurisdiction of police stations like Hudkeshwar, Wathoda, and Pratap Nagar. Residents have requested increased night patrolling by the police to prevent such incidents. Authorities are advising citizens to notify their neighbors and local police stations if they plan to leave the city, in order to maintain vigilance over their homes.
